Your driver-cum-guide will receive you at Delhi airport or railway station and set off toward Chandigarh, breaking the journey at Mansa Devi Temple. Set at the base of the Shivalik hills in Panchkula, this Durga shrine is one of the recognized Shakti Peethas and draws especially large crowds during Navratri. From here it's a short drive into Chandigarh, where you'll check in and have the rest of the day free — use it to unwind or take in the city's landmarks: Sukhna Lake, the Rock Garden, and the Rose Garden are all easy additions if you have the energy. After breakfast, check out and head toward Una, with three temple stops along the way. First is Naina Devi in Bilaspur, roughly 105 km / 2 hours from Chandigarh — a hilltop Durga shrine reachable either by a stairway climb or cable car, and one with several mythological stories attached to it. From there, continue about 70 km / 2.5 hours to Sheetla Devi Temple, associated with Sheetla Ashtami and worshipped especially on the eighth day after Holi. After lunch, the final stop is Chintpurni, roughly 55 km / 1.5 hours away in Una district — one of India's most significant Shakti Peethas, set against a Himalayan backdrop. Overnight in Una.

This is your most temple-dense day. After breakfast, check out and make your way to Jwala Ji, about 60 km / 1.5 hours from Una — second only to Vaishno Devi in popularity, and known for the natural cave where a flame is said to burn continuously without fuel. Next comes Baglamukhi Devi, followed by Kangra Devi (also known as Brijeshwari or Bajreshwari Mata), a temple dedicated to another form of Goddess Durga. The last stop is Chamunda Devi in Kangra — its name drawn from Chanda and Munda, the two demons the goddess is said to have defeated. From here, continue on to Dharamshala for the night.

A change of pace today — after breakfast, spend the day exploring Dharamshala itself rather than temple-hopping. Highlights typically include the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tsuglagkhang Complex, Namgyal Monastery at McLeod Ganj, St. John in the Wilderness Church, the War Memorial, a local tea garden, Bhagsu Nag Temple and its nearby waterfall, Dal Lake, and — if time allows — the striking Dharamshala cricket stadium. After breakfast, check out and drive to Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi shrine in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir. Katra sees lakhs of pilgrims pass through every month and serves purely as the launch point for the climb ahead. On arrival, check in and use the rest of the day at your own pace — browse the local market or simply take in the town before tomorrow's trek. Overnight in Katra.

Start early — this is the heart of the trip. The trek to the main Vaishno Devi shrine covers about 14 km from Katra through the Trikuta hills and typically takes 4–5 hours each way. You'll need to collect your yatra parchi (registration slip) in Katra before setting out. Vaishno Devi — worshipped as a form of Goddess Vaishnavi — is one of the most sacred sites in the country, and no visit is considered complete without also stopping at the nearby Bhairo Baba Temple, reachable by cable car after your main darshan. Return to Katra for the night.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Amritsar. Once you've checked in, head out for a city tour covering the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib / Darbar Sahib), the holiest Sikh shrine and a pilgrimage site that draws visitors from around the world, and Jallianwala Bagh, the memorial park marking the 1919 massacre where British troops fired on an unarmed crowd. In the afternoon, make your way to the Attari–Wagah border (aim to arrive by 3 PM) for the daily beating retreat ceremony between India and Pakistan. Overnight in Amritsar.
