India Adventure Tour Packages — Trekking, Rafting & Himalayan Adventures for 2026
Raft Grade IV rapids on the Ganges, glide over the Dhauladhar Range with a certified pilot, or ride a Royal Enfield across Khardung La — the world's highest motorable pass at 17,982 feet. YoYo Trips India crafts private, fully-customized India adventure tour packages for American travelers, covering Himalayan trekking in Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim, plus paragliding
...in Bir Billing, white-water rafting in Rishikesh, and desert adventures in Rajasthan. Every itinerary is tailored to your dates, your pace, your fitness, and your bucket list — with transparent USD pricing, certified guides, and 24/7 support across US time zones.
Why India for Your Adventure Vacation
India has the widest range of adventure terrain on the planet. Within a single country you'll find Himalayan peaks over 20,000 feet, the world's highest motorable roads, Grade IV white-water rapids on the Ganges, the Thar Desert, mangrove tiger swamps, high-altitude cold deserts in Ladakh, and coral reefs in the Andaman Islands. Few destinations can match that variety — and fewer still can match the price-to-experience ratio.
Compared to Nepal, India offers everything you'd expect from the Himalayas — plus Ladakh and Spiti, two high-altitude regions Nepal doesn't have at all. Compared to South America's Andes, India adds 5,000 years of culture to every adventure: you can summit a 20,000-foot peak and then walk through a 10th-century monastery in the same afternoon. Every trek passes through Tibetan Buddhist villages. Every rafting base camp sits below a Hindu temple. The adventure is the experience, but the culture makes it unforgettable.
And the stats speak for themselves. Khardung La sits at 17,982 feet — higher than Everest Base Camp on the Nepal side. The Chadar Trek crosses the frozen Zanskar River at -20°F. Bir Billing hosts the World Paragliding Championship. Our adventure tour packages connect you to all of them, with certified guides, full safety protocols, and a strong commitment to responsible tourism that supports local communities and keeps the trails clean for the next traveler.
Top Adventure Activities in India
India offers dozens of adventure activities, but seven consistently deliver world-class experiences for international travelers. Our adventure tour packages are built around these activities — combined, sequenced, and paced to your fitness and schedule.
Himalayan Trekking — From Beginner Trails to High-Altitude Expeditions
Trekking is India's signature adventure. The Indian Himalayas stretch across Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim, offering everything from 3-day beginner walks like Triund to 9-day high-altitude expeditions like Markha Valley and Stok Kangri. Our Himalayan trekking tour packages include certified guides from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, porter support, sleeping bags rated for altitude, and built-in acclimatization days. Peak trekking season runs May through October for most routes; June through September for Ladakh and Zanskar.
Best for: travelers with moderate to strong fitness, 7+ days, and a genuine appetite for remote mountain terrain.
White-Water Rafting in Rishikesh & Beyond
Rishikesh on the Ganges is India's white-water rafting capital — Grade II through Grade IV rapids running from September through June (the river closes during monsoon for safety). Our Rishikesh rafting packages include 16 km, 24 km, and 36 km stretches, riverside camping, certified raft guides, and all safety equipment. For expert rafters, we also run expeditions on the Zanskar River in Ladakh (Grade IV–V) and the Brahmaputra in Arunachal. Beginners welcome — most Rishikesh stretches are safe for first-timers with a briefing.
Best for: all ages and fitness levels; families; first-time rafters and expert paddlers alike.
Paragliding in Bir Billing — India's Paragliding Capital
Bir Billing in Himachal Pradesh is one of the top three paragliding destinations in the world, with takeoff at 8,000 feet and a landing zone in a Tibetan Buddhist village. The site has hosted the World Paragliding Championship. Tandem flights run 20 to 45 minutes and require zero experience — you fly with a certified P2 pilot. Our Bir Billing packages combine paragliding with camping, short treks, and visits to the Palpung Sherabling Monastery. Best conditions: March to June and September to November.
Best for: first-time adventurers, couples, and travelers wanting a high-impact activity in a short timeframe.
Royal Enfield Motorcycle Tours in Ladakh & Rajasthan
Riding a Royal Enfield across the Himalayas is a bucket-list experience for riders worldwide. Our flagship Ladakh motorcycle tour runs Manali to Leh via Rohtang Pass, Sarchu, and Tanglang La — crossing five passes over 15,000 feet. Rajasthan motorcycle tours trade altitude for desert, covering Jaipur to Jaisalmer via Jodhpur. All tours include bike rental (classic 500cc Enfield or 650cc Interceptor), fuel, mechanic support, permits, accommodation, and a lead rider. Valid motorcycle license required.
Best for: experienced motorcycle riders; the Ladakh tour specifically requires mountain-riding confidence.
Desert Safaris & Camel Treks in Rajasthan
The Thar Desert around Jaisalmer offers camel safaris, dune camping, and some of the clearest night skies in South Asia. Our desert adventure packages range from single-night experiences at boutique tented camps to 4-day camel expeditions sleeping in traditional Bishnoi villages. Luxury desert camps include private tents with en-suite bathrooms, fine dining, and cultural evenings with Rajasthani folk musicians. Season: October through March only — April through September is dangerously hot for outdoor activity.
Best for: travelers combining culture and adventure; photographers; anyone who wants a night under genuinely dark skies.
Himalayan Camping & Luxury Glamping
If the word "camping" makes you think of sleeping bags on hard ground, our Himalayan glamping packages will surprise you. Luxury tented camps in Rishikesh, Spiti, Nubra Valley, and Jaisalmer offer king-size beds, proper mattresses, hot showers, en-suite bathrooms, gourmet meals, and bonfire evenings with folk music. Budget-friendly riverside camping is also available for travelers who want the traditional experience. Every camp includes park permits (where applicable), meals, bonfires, and activity options.
Best for: couples, families, and travelers who want wilderness access without roughing it.
Skiing in Gulmarg & Auli
Gulmarg in Kashmir is one of Asia's premier ski destinations, home to the second-highest gondola in the world (reaching 13,780 feet) and some of the deepest powder snow anywhere. Auli in Uttarakhand offers shorter, family-friendly runs with sweeping Himalayan views. Our winter adventure packages include equipment rental, certified ski instructors, and accommodation at mountain lodges. Peak ski season runs December through March. Intermediate and advanced skiers will find the best terrain at Gulmarg; beginners and families should choose Auli.
Best for: intermediate and advanced skiers (Gulmarg); families and beginners (Auli); winter travelers.
Top Adventure Destinations in India
Activities tell you what you'll do; destinations tell you where you'll do it. Five regions of India consistently deliver the best adventure experiences for international travelers.
Ladakh — The Roof of the World
Ladakh is a cold-desert plateau on the Tibetan border, sitting at an average elevation of 11,500 feet. It's the single most versatile adventure destination in India — hosting motorcycle tours over five Himalayan passes, the Markha Valley trek, the Chadar Trek across frozen rivers, jeep safaris to Pangong Lake, and summer cycling expeditions. Best time: June through September (roads closed rest of year). US travelers typically spend 7 to 10 days here.
Himachal Pradesh — Manali, Spiti & Bir Billing
Himachal is India's adventure all-rounder. Manali is the base for treks to Hampta Pass, Beas Kund, and Pin Parvati. Spiti Valley offers high-altitude Buddhist monasteries and cold-desert landscapes. Bir Billing is the paragliding capital. Solang Valley runs zip lines, paragliding, and winter skiing. Our Himachal packages often combine 2–3 of these hubs across a 7–10 day itinerary. Best time: April to June and September to November.
Uttarakhand — Rishikesh, Auli & the Garhwal Himalayas
Uttarakhand packs extraordinary range into a small state. Rishikesh is India's yoga and rafting capital. The Valley of Flowers — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — blooms July through September. The Roopkund, Kedarkantha, and Kuari Pass treks wind through the Garhwal Himalayas. Auli offers skiing in winter. Every destination is within a 6-hour drive of Delhi, making Uttarakhand the easiest Himalayan state to reach.
Sikkim — Kangchenjunga Treks & Eastern Himalayas
Sikkim sits on the Nepalese and Bhutanese borders, under the shadow of Kangchenjunga — the world's third-highest mountain. It's quieter than the western Himalayas, greener, and culturally distinct (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries dot every ridge). The Goechala Trek reaches a viewing point of Kangchenjunga's south face. Dzongri is a shorter alternative. Best time: March to May and September to December.
Rajasthan — Thar Desert Safaris & Heritage Adventures
Rajasthan is adventure of a different kind — desert, not mountain. Camel safaris through the Thar Desert around Jaisalmer, dune camping under genuinely dark skies, motorcycle tours through Jodhpur and Udaipur, and hot-air balloon rides over Jaipur. Combine with the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) for a culture-and-adventure itinerary that showcases India's range. Best time: October through March only.
Types of India Adventure Tour Packages
Our India adventure tour packages come in five distinct formats. Every format can be combined, extended, or customized.
Luxury Adventure Tours in India
Premium tented camps, helicopter transfers to high-altitude bases, gourmet dining, private pilots and guides. Our luxury adventure packages deliver the thrill without sacrificing comfort.
Private & Customized Adventure Trips
Private guides, private vehicles, and itineraries built entirely around your dates. Perfect for couples, solo travelers, and small groups who don't want to share their trip with strangers.
Family Adventure Tours
Soft-adventure pacing, shorter treks, family-friendly rafting stretches, kid-safe camping. Our family packages work for multi-generational US families with kids ages 8 and up.
Adventure + Golden Triangle Combined Tours
Pair Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur with a 3–5 day adventure add-on — Rishikesh rafting, Bir Billing paragliding, or a Manali trek. Ideal for first-time US visitors who want culture plus adrenaline.
Multi-Activity Adventure Tours
Combine three or four activities across a single 10–14 day trip: trek in Himachal, raft in Rishikesh, paraglide in Bir, and camp in the desert. Maximum adventure per travel day.
Best Time for an India Adventure Tour
India's adventure calendar is almost the opposite of its wildlife safari calendar. While tiger parks run October through June, the best Himalayan adventure window is May through October — and for Ladakh specifically, the roads only open June through September. The short answer: when you travel depends entirely on what you want to do.
For Himalayan trekking in Himachal and Uttarakhand, the sweet spot is April through June (spring flowers) and September through October (post-monsoon clarity). Ladakh and Spiti require June through September — high passes are closed the rest of the year. The Chadar Trek, which crosses the frozen Zanskar River, only runs January through February. Rishikesh rafting runs September through June (closed during monsoon). Paragliding in Bir Billing is best March through June and September through November. And Rajasthan desert adventures — including camel safaris and dune camping — are only comfortable October through March, when daytime highs stay below 90°F.

Planning Your India Adventure Tour from the USA
Four things American travelers ask us most before booking an adventure trip to India.
Flights from the US to India
Direct flights run from New York (JFK/EWR), Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington DC (IAD) to Delhi (DEL) on Air India, United, and Delta. Round-trip economy averages USD $900–$1,500 depending on season. Most Himalayan circuits start in Delhi, with onward domestic flights to Leh (for Ladakh), Srinagar (for Kashmir), or Dehradun (for Uttarakhand). Allow a full rest day in Delhi before heading to high altitude.
India e-Visa + Inner Line Permits
US passport holders qualify for the India e-Tourist Visa. Apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least four days before travel — approvals usually come within 72 hours. The 30-day e-Visa costs about USD $25. Adventure travelers heading to Ladakh, Spiti, Sikkim, or Arunachal also need an Inner Line Permit (required for foreign nationals entering border-sensitive zones). YoYo Trips arranges all Inner Line Permits as part of your package, so you never have to navigate the paperwork yourself.
Fitness, Altitude & Acclimatization
High-altitude trips (Ladakh, Spiti, Markha Valley, Kedarkantha) require proper acclimatization. We build 2–3 rest days into every Ladakh itinerary — you'll spend the first two days in Leh (11,500 feet) before ascending further. Altitude sickness is preventable with slow ascent, hydration, and in some cases prescription Diamox (bring from the US). Base fitness — able to walk 5–6 miles on uneven terrain — is sufficient for most treks. We'll match you to the right difficulty level during the planning call.
What to Pack for an India Adventure Tour
Layers are essential — Himalayan mornings can drop to 30°F while afternoons hit 75°F. Pack quick-dry base layers, a fleece midlayer, a waterproof shell, sturdy trekking boots (broken in before you fly), a wide-brim hat, high-SPF sunscreen (the sun at altitude is brutal), sunglasses with UV protection, a headlamp, a water purification bottle or tablets, and a 30–40 liter daypack. We send a detailed packing list tailored to your specific tour after booking.

FAQs Related to Adventure Packages in India
The best time for an India adventure tour depends on the activity. Himalayan trekking in Himachal and Uttarakhand peaks April through June and September through October. Ladakh and Spiti require June through September — roads are closed the rest of the year. Rishikesh rafting runs September through June (closed during monsoon). Paragliding in Bir Billing is best March through June and September through November. Rajasthan desert adventures work October through March only.
An India adventure tour typically costs between USD $750 and $5,800+ per person, depending on duration, destinations, and accommodation tier. A 5-day Rishikesh rafting package starts around $750, a 10-day Ladakh motorcycle tour averages $2,800, and luxury 14-day expeditions begin at $5,800. Prices include permits, certified guides, equipment, accommodation, meals, and private transfers. International flights and the India e-Visa are not included.
For first-time trekkers, we recommend the Triund Trek (3 days, Himachal), Kedarkantha Trek (5 days, Uttarakhand), or Hampta Pass (4 days, Himachal). These are all moderate-difficulty treks at altitudes under 13,000 feet, making them accessible to travelers with base fitness. For a complete beginner experience, the Valley of Flowers trek (8 days, Uttarakhand) combines moderate walking with stunning alpine meadows.
Yes, when done with a certified operator. All our Himalayan treks are led by IMF-certified guides with wilderness first aid training. We include built-in acclimatization days, medical kits on every trek, emergency evacuation protocols, and 24/7 field support. The main risks (altitude sickness, weather) are managed through careful itinerary design and daily health monitoring. Solo American travelers, families, and repeat trekkers all book with us safely.
Base fitness is the ability to walk 5–6 miles on uneven terrain with a day pack. For moderate treks (under 13,000 feet), regular cardio 2–3 months before your trip is enough. For high-altitude treks like Markha Valley (17,000+ feet), we recommend 3–4 months of cardio plus strength training. During our planning call, we'll match you to a trek that fits your current fitness — there's an appropriate trek for everyone from casual walkers to ultra-marathoners.
Proper acclimatization is the best prevention. Our Ladakh itineraries build in two full rest days in Leh (11,500 feet) before any higher ascent. Stay hydrated (3–4 liters of water daily), avoid alcohol the first 48 hours, and ascend slowly. Prescription Diamox (acetazolamide) is effective — get a prescription from your US doctor before traveling. If symptoms appear (headache, nausea, dizziness), descend immediately. Our guides monitor every client's oxygen saturation daily on high-altitude trips.
Yes — our most-booked combination for first-time US visitors is the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) plus a 3–5 day adventure add-on in Rishikesh (rafting), Bir Billing (paragliding), or Manali (trekking). Standard duration: 9 to 12 days total. You'll experience India's iconic cultural sites plus a meaningful outdoor adventure in one trip. Longer 14-day versions can add Ladakh or a desert safari in Rajasthan.
Yes. India's adventure regions — Himachal, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Rajasthan — are among the safest areas of the country for international visitors. Every YoYo Trips itinerary includes private transfers with vetted drivers, pre-inspected accommodation, certified activity guides, and 24/7 phone support from our Delhi office. Solo female travelers, families with kids, and senior US travelers all book our adventure tours regularly and safely.
Foreign travelers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Ladakh (Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Dah-Hanu), Spiti Valley, and parts of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. These are required because the regions border China. YoYo Trips arranges all Inner Line Permits as part of your package — we handle the paperwork, you just provide your passport scan when you book. The ILP is valid for 7 days and usually costs around USD $15–$20.
Share your travel dates, group size, fitness level, and preferred activities using the enquiry form — we'll send a custom itinerary with USD pricing within 24 hours. Once you approve, we collect a 25% deposit to confirm permits, accommodation, and equipment reservations; the balance is due 30 days before travel. Cancellations more than 60 days out are fully refundable minus a small admin fee. High-altitude treks and motorcycle tours may have stricter cancellation terms — we'll walk you through the specifics before you pay.
